The Gathering KC

The original congregation of Annunciation Catholic Church began construction on this building in November 1902, laying the cornerstone in 1903. The project was completed over a span of 21 years using a "pay-as-you-go" strategy and served local congregations until it was vacated in 2004.

Shortly thereafter, a local non-profit organization, The Hope Center KC, acquired the church and the adjacent school to implement community programs. In response to local needs, The Hope Center has since established a medical clinic, an elementary charter school, and expanded its community and youth initiatives. In 2021, they initiated fundraising efforts to restore the church building for use as a community space and venue.

Collaborating with local architects and builders specializing in historic preservation, this stunning space has been beautifully restored to its former glory. We are thrilled to announce the opening of The Gathering KC in 2025, continuing our commitment to provide meaningful environments on the east side of Kansas City.
